Hawaiian Doctors Push Pro-Death Envelope

The pro-deathers won’t quit in Hawaii. They were slapped down last year when they tried to show that assisted suicide was actually a native Hawaiian tradition. Now 5 doctors are simply going to break the law and see what happens.
5 Hawaii doctors offer assisted suicide to terminally ill patients
A group of Hawaii physicians is offering to write lethal prescriptions for terminally ill patients in a bid to test whether doctor-assisted suicide is allowed under state law.
Unlike Oregon and Washington, the only two states where writing such a prescription is explicitly allowed and regulated, Hawaii has no law authorizing physician-assisted suicide. Moreover, Hawaii Attorney General David M. Louie issued an opinion in December 2011 saying that manslaughter charges could be brought against physicians who write prescriptions with the intention of causing death. more

Hawaii: Pro-Death Doctors On The Loose

The pro-deathers in Hawaii have failed to get their deadly ideas adopted via the ballot box, so now they’re launching an “advisory” board to suggest to doctors how they can encourage their patients to kill themselves. Watch Hawaii carefully.
Hawaii doctors offer patients 'choice' to die
Doctors in Hawaii have set up a controversial council to support the right of a terminally ill patient to choose when they die.
Euthanasia is illegal in Hawaii, but The Physician Advisory Council for Aid in Dying (PACAID) says it's not euthanasia if the patients administer the drugs themselves.
The council has four members which co-founder Dr Charles Miller says is adequate, given it is a body set up to advise family doctors on end-of-life care. more

Hawaiians Strongly Oppose Pro-Deather's Cultural Lies

There is stiff opposition to assisted suicide following the pro-deathers absurd assertion that native Hawaiian culture Oks assisted suicide.
Colette Machado: Assisted Suicide Activists ‘Hoodwinking Our Culture’
Mocking the latest poll numbers released by assisted suicide activists, Office of Hawaiian Affairs Chair Colette Machado is calling assisted suicide an insult to the Hawaiian culture and an insult to the memory of the thousands of patients at Kalaupapa “who fought to live-not die.”
Machado, speaking alongside Martin Luther King Jr's niece Alveda King and former Lt Governor James Duke Aiona, told an audience of 100 at Ko’olau Ballroom Wednesday that the native Hawaiian culture is a pro-life culture. Machado’s remarks came in response to the announcement of Q-Mark poling results by Compassion and Choices Hawaii, an offshoot of the national Hemlock Society founded by Oregon HMO executive Barbara Coombs Lee. C&C’s news release focusing on “End of Life Liberty” is a reflection of the language used by Q-Mark in its latest endeavor to get the pre-determined result demanded by a paying client: more

Hawai: No, There Is No Legalized Killing Despite What The Pro-Deathers Say

Here’s a little more on the pro-deathers spin to assert that assisted suicide and euthanasia are already legal in Hawaii. Hint: It’s not rue.
Assisted suicide still a no-go in Aloha State
In spite of proponents' unique approach to legalize it, Hawaii's ban on doctor-assisted suicide remains in place.
Supporters of assisted suicide tried to use a 1909 law that permits the use remedies not typically authorized for terminally ill patients, but Hawaii Attorney General David Louie has responded in a legal opinion that the state law "does not authorize physicians to assist terminally ill patients with dying." Attorney Rita Marker, who heads the Patients Rights Council, tells OneNewsNow what the dated law was meant to address. more

Pro-Deathers Focus On Hawaii

The assisted suicide war heats up in Hawaii.
Pro-Death Group Pushes Physician-Assisted Suicide in Hawaii
Assisted suicide hasn't been a hot button issue in the media since the days of Dr Jack Kevorkian--at least not in the US. It hasn't, that is, until a pro-death group called Compassion and Choices started pushing its agenda.
Compassion and Choices recently and publicly began arguing that Hawaii state laws allow for physician-assisted suicide. But Hawaii's Attorney General is making it very clear that the tropical state will not turn a blind eye to the Kavorkian-style practice. more
