Canadian Murderer Now A Pro-Death "Expert"

There’s no end to the evil that is Robert Latimer. A monster that murdered his disabled daughter, he is increasingly being paraded as some kind of euthanasia expert by the pro-deathers. Sick, just sick.
Robert Latimer gets OK to travel to U.K. for panel talk
Robert Latimer will be allowed to go the United Kingdom to take part in a panel debate on end-of-life issues.
Latimer, who was convicted of second-degree murder in the 1993 death of his severely disabled daughter, Tracy, has been granted permission by the National Parole Board to attend the Oct. 18 discussion, which is being organized by the University of Oxford. more

Aussie: "Assisted Suicide Defense" Fails

We’re seeing more and more that people involved in plain old murder are using the “assisted suicide defense.” In this Aussie case, it didn’t work.
Assisted suicide murder conviction appeal fails
A man who helped a woman he barely knew to take her own life with a heroin overdose has failed to have have his murder conviction re-assessed and overturned.
Stephen Wayne Carter was jailed for life in 2003 for the murder of Gail Marke in March 2000 at Tewantin, on the Sunshine Coast.
During the trial, the Supreme Court in Brisbane heard Carter had been pestered for two years by an acquaintance, Patrick Smythe, to supply him heroin so he could commit suicide.
The court heard Carter barely knew Ms Marke, who was a friend of Mr Smythe's, but that he helped her die as well. more

Assisted Suicide? No, Murder, Plain And Simple

Here’s the latest example of an alleged murderer being painted as an assister of a suicide – rubbish. For assisted suicide he would have had to have brought the gun to the hospital and handed it to his wife, allowing her to pull the trigger. Murder, plain and simple.

Hospital shooting fuels euthanasia debate
John Wise watched a tear roll down his wife's face as he stood alongside her bed in the intensive care unit. She'd been unable to speak after suffering a stroke and seemed to be blinking to acknowledge him, Wise confided to a friend who had driven him to the hospital.
The couple had been married for 45 years and Wise told his friend that they had agreed long ago they didn't want to live out their years bedridden and disabled.
So a week after Barbara Wise's stroke, investigators say, her husband fired a single round into her head. She died the next day, leading prosecutors to charge the 66-year-old man with aggravated murder on Wednesday in what police suspect was a mercy killing. more

Canadian "Assisted Suicide:" For Being A Drunk

Murderers are getting more creative about using the "assisted suicide defense." Usually they argue that they ended someone's terminal illness, etc. Here's a Canadian guy who smothered his wife for being a drunk.
Crown rejects Edmonton man’s plea of guilty to assisted suicide in 2006 domestic slaying
When police arrived at the Lavery house in Mill Woods that September night, they found a 78-year-old man, crying and cradling his dead wife, who lay on the couple’s bed. He admitted to smothering her.
A constable remembered that scene Monday during the second-degree murder trial of Edmonton resident Noel Lavery, now 83. His wife, Sherry Lavery, had been an active member of the federal progressive conservative party in the 1980s. She was also an alcoholic, whose addiction had ruled and all-but ruined her family in the months before her death. more
