More On NJ Assisted Suicide Bill

Here’s more on the New Jersey proposal to legalize assisted suicide.
New Jersey Bill Would Make State Third With Assisted Suicide
Pro-life groups are very concerned about a bill that has been introduced in the New Jersey state legislature that would make the state the third, following Oregon and Washington, to legalize assisted suicide.
Bill A3328 seeking voter approval to legalize physician assisted suicide has been introduced this week by Democrat Assemblyman John Burzichelli, a Democrat. The bill is called the NJ Death With Dignity Act” and it would allow an adult resident in New Jersey, who has the capacity to make health care decisions and who has been determined by that individual’s attending and consulting physicians to be suffering from a terminal disease that will cause death within six months, to obtain medication that the patient may self-administer to end his life.
Marie Tasy, the director of New Jersey Right to Life, told LifeNews her group strongly opposes the measure, saying, “We vigorously oppose this bill and urge rejection of the bill.” more

Right-To-Die Billboard Causes Uproar In N.J.
HILLSIDE, N.J. (CBS) ― The message on a billboard in New Jersey is stirring up a lot of controversy. It centers on whether a person suffering from a painful disease has the right to take his or her own life.
The billboard looms over a busy section of Route 22 in Hillside, facing the eastbound lanes. Some drivers said they are confused by the message.
"My Life My Death My Choice. So what does that mean?" Hillside resident Steve Leo said. more

Kudos For Medical Students In New Jersey For Committing To The Terminally Ill

Here’s an encouraging and innovative program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark. They kept running into terminally ill patients who faced the prospect of dying alone. They decided to change that, pairing up each patient with a medical student who remains their support until their death. What a contrast tp the pro-deathers who can’t wait for people to kill themselves no matter what.
Learning Bedside Manners: When Students Are All EARS for Dying Patients
IN the last two months of his life, Nick Macioci suffered the ravages of cancer while grappling with the heartache of not being able to attend a funer- al for his mother, also a victim of the insidious disease. Now, Barbara Ciricillo holds onto mem- ories of the compassionate care her brother received at University Hospital (UH) in Newark during his last days and credits a student- inspired initiative at NJMS with encouraging him when she could not be there herself. more, beginning p. 25 of the pdf
