Shocking Spin From The Pro-Deathers

Want to see what pro0deather propaganda looks like? Read this, prattling on and on about the “independent” Falconer Commission and that the only people against legalizing assisted suicide and euthanasia are religious nuts. This is what we’re up against, folks. By vigilant.
Assisted dying: whose life is it anyway?
Every month, people from Britain make their way to Switzerland to seek the help of the Dignitas organisation. More than 150 have made the one-way trip so far, often in wheelchairs, sometimes on stretchers. Every one of them has made it clear repeatedly and in writing that they want to die and that they have medical evidence that lends support to their wish. Every one of them would prefer to die in Britain and preferably in their own homes, rather than make the journey to a foreign country.
That people in such distressing circumstances make these arrangements is the direct responsibility of others - who profess kindness, but who practice cruelty. People of extreme religious views have blocked attempts to bring the law of England and Wales more into accord with that of Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg or the Netherlands. Opinion polls demonstrate that they possess only minority public support, but their political influence is far greater than their numbers warrant. more

Images Of The Terminally Ill Are Biased Towards The Pro-Deathers

Look carefully at these images. These are the kind of images that are most likely to accompany articles related to assisted suicide or euthanasia. Now, death and dying are hardly likely to generate “happy” images, but it’s equally true that many terminally ill people die comfortably at home, comfortable, and surrounded by the love of their families and friends. Where are those images? Think about this the next time you read a piece on assisted suicide or euthanasia. I think these images reinforce the pro-deather side of the argument.

Another Example Of Pro-Deather Propaganda As "News"

I keep posting these pro-deather propaganda pieces (masquerading as "news reports") because it makes readers see how transparently cookie-cutter the arguments are. Old man. Not well. Tired of living. Wants to die. Why shouldn’t he? Yadda, yadda, yadda. Same old tired talking points, I'm afraid.

Classic Pro-Death Propaganda From Canada

If ever you needed to see the pro-deathers unmasked, read this piece form some Canadians whose chutzpah far exceeds their jaundiced view of living.
Assisted suicide shrouded in secrecy
Nearly 20 years ago Sue Rodriguez asked: "Who owns my life?" In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court of Canada answered with a blunt "Not you." Nevertheless, Rodriguez ended her life in the compassionate presence of Member of Parliament Svend Robinson and with the assistance of an anonymous physician who broke the criminal law prohibiting assisted suicide. more

Much Needed Push-Back Against The Final Exit Network

At last: Some pushback to the antics of the pro-deather Final Exit Network.
Religious Leaders Counter 'Die With Dignity' Ad
“Die with dignity” is the controversial message being given to East Boston residents this month, garnering criticism from many religious leaders.
Part of a nationwide campaign to legalize physician-assisted suicide, the message is plastered on a billboard, purchased by the Final Exit Network – a national, volunteer-run nonprofit organization. more

No, Advertising Death Is NOT To Foster Debate, It's To Propagandize

Well, we all know by now that the pro-deathers are engaged in a full court press to market death just like hamburgers, hence this sign that’s gone up in Pittsburgh. Whats most disturbing about the piece, I think, is the reporter’s glib agreement that assisted suicide and euthanasia are a human right. Really???? This is how it goes, unfortunately: Stupid reporter claims killing as a human right, laypeople read this, and, being uninformed, assume that yes, it is indeed a human right. Propaganda, lies, spin, erroneous info, all in one sentence. Oh, and by the way, these ads are NOT aimed at "enlivening the debate." For the pro-deathers the debate is long over, it's only that the rest of us poor schlubs are so retrograde and unsophisticated that we haven't quite gotten it yet.
Billboard's aim: Enliven controversial debate Right-to-die group posts
A billboard paid for by the Final Exit Network went up Tuesday at the Boulevard of the Allies and McDevitt Place in Oakland.
A new billboard erected Tuesday at the intersection of the Boulevard of the Allies and McDevitt Place in Oakland says simply, "Die with Dignity -- the Final Human Right."
Nothing much to argue with about that. But Final Exit Network, the national organization that paid for the billboard and offers its contact information on it, hopes there is plenty of debate in the next month over the right-to-die issues the sign raises. more

Propaganda Alert: This Is Hardly A Balanced Report

Propaganda Alert: Read the heading on this piece and then the first few paragraphs. Debate? Nope, this is a piece firmly in the tank for killing. Read everything on this topic carefully, and you’ll soon be able to separate the genuine debate from the pro-death spin.
Year in Quebec marked by emotional debate on assisted suicide, euthanasia.
QUEBEC - Nicole Gladu doesn't know exactly how much longer she is going to tolerate watching herself slowly lose the ability to walk, talk and use her hands. But she finds comfort in the fact that when she's had enough she can opt out.
If by then Quebec or Canadian laws don't let her put an end to her life by assisted suicide, she'll travel to a clinic in Switzerland - with a good friend.
``My great challenge is to live without hope, without becoming hopeless,'' said Gladu, who suffers from post-polio syndrome and whose condition is deteriorating. more

Aussie Pro-Deather's Make 1984 Seem Truthful!!

Wow. This is outstanding spin by Aussie pro-deathers. Euthanasia needs to be legalized so that people can live longer. Uh-huh. Like getting whacked in the head with a machete will make you feel better.
Legal euthanasia 'could prolong lives'
The architect of the Northern Territory's overturned euthanasia legislation says denying people the right to die is forcing them to take their own lives when they are still relatively healthy. more

Media Propaganda: Assisted Suicide Is Beautiful And Lovely And Heroic

Classic pro-death media spin about the nobleness of assisted suicide, how beautiful it all was, and how those who aided & abetted him remember him fondly. Very slick pro-deather propaganda, I tell you.
How 2000AD artist and MS sufferer John Hicklenton chose to end his life
Just an hour before, they ate a cheeseburger and drank a coke.
Fingers all greasy, the three of them – the cartoonist, his partner and his best mate – sat in the Swiss sunshine sharing a joke or two. Pain And Thinking You Are A Burden Should NEVER Be An Excuse For Asking To Be Killed

This from near my home country of South Africa. It is an exemplar of how the pro-deathers spin things, although the subject of the story is not a pro-deather, I’m sure. This poor man wants to die because he is in pain and sees himself as a burden to those around him. See?? This is why we should medalcalize killing!! At least that’s what the pro-deathers say.
JIM GAMA: LET ME DIE
LUDZIDZINI Royal Residence Governor and popular radio man Jim ‘Mbhokane’ Gama says he is a sick man. Gama, who became popular for his radio problem-solving programme known as Khalamdumbadumbane, wished he died when he suffered a stroke and subsequently a swollen foot sometime last year.
Up to now, Gama believes death could be the only way out for him because of the pain he endures everyday because of his ailment, which he claimed doctors have failed to arrest.
“Life is hell for me, I am going through heavy pain,” he said.
In his baritone voice, Gama said at one point he wished the country had a law that allowed Euthanasia (whereby the law allows a doctor relative to administer lethal medicine to terminally ill patients for them to die). more

Pro-Deather Old Lies In Tasmania

Ya know, I’m getting really, REALLY tired of the “pain and suffering” pro-deather point. If people die in unbearable pain and suffering, it’s because their doltish doctors are pretty clueless, usually, about palliative care and advanced pain management. They trot this argument out because the average reader, uninformed, swallows the lie hook, line, and death clinic.
Euthanasia Bill given support
TASMANIANS deserve the right to die with dignity, says a national euthanasia advocate.
YourLastRight chairman Neil Francis arrived in Tasmania yesterday in a bid to rally support for Tasmania's Dying With Dignity Bill, which is currently subject to public consultation.
Mr Francis said passing the legislation could give terminally ill Tasmanians the option to die without pain and suffering. more

Marketing Euthanasia In Aussie

Here's the banned Aussie euthanasia TV ad and sponsored, of course, by Aussie Dr. Death Phil Nietschke. God help us all.

Aussie Pro-Deather TV Ads Pulled

As I reported last week, the Aussie pro-deathers jumped on a TV PR game show that tasked participants to sell the unsellable and enlisted them to make euthanasia propaganda ads. They have, at lest for now, been pulled. I’m not optimistic that the ban will last, however.
Pro-euthanasia ads pulled from TV
An advertisement which calls for a government re-think on euthanasia cannot be shown on Australian television following a "last minute" backflip by a classification body.
Pro-euthanasia advocate Dr Philip Nitschke was informed of the revised position of CAD (Commercials Advice) on Friday afternoon.
Filming for the ad was completed earlier this week. more

The Propaganda Machine In Full Swing In Scottish Hearings

The lies are perpetrated, with a patina of officialdom, in Scotland, where “experts” say that in some countries where assisted suicide is legal, most of the population agree with it. Mmmm, smell a rat, anyone?
Scottish Parliament
International experts on euthanasia and assisted suicide have told the End of Life Assistance (Scotland) Bill Committee that in countries where such practices were legal, they were widely accepted by the public.
The committee began taking evidence on the End of Life Assistance Bill on 7 September 2010.
The bill, brought forward by Independent MSP Margo MacDonald, would allow terminally ill people to seek help to die at a time of their choosing, a form of legalised assisted suicide. more

In Aussie, Euthanasia Fiction Becomes Reality

Yesterday I posted the YouTube clip of an Aussie game show that asks two competing ad agencies to produce ads to sell the unsellable, in this case euthanasia. Well, predictably, the Aussie pro-deathers have jumped on board and are considering actually hiring one of the companies to REALLY produce pro-death ads. The propaganda re-education machine will be in full swing soon, I’m sure.
Pro-euthanasia ads to hit TV screens
A "hard hitting" pro-euthanasia campaign will soon appear on television screens and billboards across Australia.
Dr Philip Nitschke, an advocate of assisted suicide, said the campaign was an Australian first and it was hoped to provoke private introspection as well as a public debate. more
